In order to curb the surge in crimes, particularly street crimes, the Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) has granted approval to reinstate 200 proposed police posts from the nine divisions of the province, including 19 from the Rawalpindi Division.
Sources said the majority of these police posts have now acquired official legal standing, transitioning from their prior temporary status. The 19 police posts in the four districts of the Rawalpindi Division —Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, and Jhelum— have received official operational status subsequent to the final clearance.

These operational posts encompass a range of locations, including Police Station Rata Amaral Post No 4, Naseerabad Post Hamida, Airport Posts Gulzar-e-Quaid and Gulrez, Taxila Post City, Wah Cantt Posts No 3 and 4, Sadar Beruni Post Adiala, Mandira Post Sukho, Jatli Post Doultala, Gujjar Khan Post Qazi, Civil Lines Post Kachehri, Hazro Post Hattian, Attock Khurd Post Gondal Khurd, New Airport Post New Airport and Malho Wali, Bisal Post Pind Sultani and Police Station Anjara’s Post Lakarmar.
Furthermore, 21 police stations in Lahore city, 33 in Lahore division, 34 in Gujranwala, six in Sargodha, 17 in Sahiwal, 38 in Faisalabad, 13 in Bahawalpur and 10 in Dera Ghazi Khan division have been restored. The Punjab IGP office has also issued a formal notification in this regard.
Based on their performance, several of these posts will also be upgraded to regular police stations in the second phase.
