Medical experts have warned that more than 33 million people in the country are suffering from diabetes but 25 per cent of them do not even know that they have fallen prey to the disease.
Addressing a seminar at Lahore General Hospital, they said lack of serious attention towards proper treatment resulted with the passage of time in kidney, eye and heart diseases too.

Postgraduate Medical Institute Principal Prof Muhammad Al-Fareed Zafar said millions of people around the world were suffering from eye problems, heart and kidney diseases due to diabetes. He said the patients should get treatment from qualified physicians as soon as possible.
Prof Tahir Siddique said diabetes was considered an epidemic all over the world, including Pakistan, and could be transmitted from parents to children.
Medical experts said improper diet, obesity and poor lifestyle were the main causes of the disease.
