Children in Madina Town were compelled to pick up garbage by their parents for money

Cases were filed against seven people who forced their teenage children to engage in bonded labour. A team from the Child Protection Bureau has taken the children into their custody.

According to a police report, Abid allegedly forced his teenage stepson Haris to sell things and beg for money in collusion with Ishrat Bibi, near Lasani Palli area of Sargodha Road. In the same area of Sargodha Road, a man also forced his son, Shahid Ali, to beg.

Child Protection Bureau officer Farhat Jabeen told Madina Town police that Luqman was forced to pick up garbage by his father Khan Wali on Madina Town Susan Road, while Child Protection Officer Sadia Rasheed took minor Sher Wali and another child into custody on Kotwali Road while they were picking up the garbage. They were forced to do so by their parents Nokri Khan and Zarmalang for money.

The owner of Khalid Auto in Gulfishan Mor area of Jhang Bazar was allegedly taking forced labor from 15-year-old child Shakeel. Kotwali and Madina Town police registered separate cases.
