PESHAWAR:

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government has responded to a recent surge in targeted attacks on the police by taking steps to address the situation.

In a meeting chaired by Commissioner Peshawar Muhammad Zubair and attended by deputy commissioners of Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsadda, Mohmand, and Khyber tribal districts, along with district police officers and excise and taxation department representatives, a decision was reached to register all arms dealers operating across the Peshawar Division.

In addition to addressing arms dealing, a crackdown against illegal drugs will be carried out in educational institutions in the five districts of the division.

The meeting emphasized the importance of implementing the national action plan (NAP) in accordance with the directives of both the provincial and federal governments, taking into consideration the current threat alerts.

Furthermore, steps will be taken to reduce the prevalence of extortion calls in these districts, and an operation against drug-related activities in colleges and universities will be initiated.

To execute these actions effectively, teams will be formed, consisting of members from the district administration, police, and the excise department.
