KARACHI:

Implementing the new local government system in Sindh is still a difficult task as despite the transition period’s conclusion after several months and town chairmen have assumed their roles, many towns struggle to effectively manage administrative affairs, resulting in delayed salary payments, causing difficulties to employee.

Previously, Karachi had seven district chairmen, but now there are twenty-five towns. While these towns received their powers just last month, administrative and financial matters have not significantly improved. Physical verification of employees is ongoing in several cities, with salary payments expected to follow this process.

Since October, employees in various towns have not received their salaries, and some wages have been held back due to employees’ absence. Reports are suggesting that some chairmen are withholding salaries for political reasons.
