Three “bandits” allegedly involved in dozens of cases of robbery were killed in an alleged police encounter.

Police said that the DSP of Nishatabad Police Station, Rana Omar Daraz, the SHO of Sahianwala Police Station, Sub-Inspector Muhammad Wasim Sahu, along with their team, raided the premises of Darbar Malan Shah to arrest the suspects in a case in which the latter had allegedly injured several policeman a few days ago.

Police said that when the police party arrived at the place where the accused had taken refuge, “six armed suspects opened fire on them indiscriminately”.

Police said that three suspects, Shehbaz, Naveed alias Neda and Waseem sustained gunshot wounds during the exchange of fire between the police and the suspects.

However, three other suspects escaped from the backdoor of the Darbar.

The injured suspects died while they were being transported to the hospital.

The police filed a case against the dead suspects and their accomplices who had fled from the Darbar.

The SHO of Sahianwala, Waseem Ahmad Sahu, said a raid had been conducted to arrest the robbers when the accused opened fire on the police team.

A few days earlier, the suspects had allegedly shot at several police constables during a shootout.

Police said that Shehbaz alias Nila had been wanted in more than 46 cases of robberies and encounters.
