Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has approached the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to seek a detailed decision regarding the party's election symbol, expressing concerns over the delay in receiving a written order following a verbal ruling made on August 30.

PTI central leader and advocate Barrister Ali Zafar submitted a written application on Wednesday to request the issuance of the party's desired symbol.

He urged the commission to promptly provide a detailed decision in line with the verbal order given on August 30.

Highlighting that the party had followed ECP’s orders by conducting intra-party elections on June 9, 2022, as per its constitution, the PTI counsel stated that the commission had no valid justification to withhold the electoral symbol.

He further emphasised that the ECP had never raised any objections or identified any violations of the law in relation to the party's intra-party elections.

The commission pointed out some flaws in the submitted document which had been rectified.

He contended that not issuing a detailed decision despite 41 days having passed, goes against the principles of fair and open elections, claiming it is a clear violation of fundamental rights.
