A patrolling team of the capital police came under gunfire from unidentified assailants on Saturday in Sector E-12 of the federal capital.
Fortunately, no one was harmed during the assault.
According to a spokesperson for the police, the incident unfolded within the jurisdiction of the Golra police station when the team was conducting routine patrol.
He said during the patrolling, they signalled a suspicious vehicle to stop. Suddenly, the vehicle's occupants, believed to be three armed individuals, opened fire on the personnel and swiftly fled the scene.
Fortunately, due to the timely implementation of security procedures, no police personnel were harmed.
However, during the pursuit of the fleeing suspects, one of them sustained injuries from police gunfire and was subsequently taken into custody.
Upon further investigation, the police recovered weapons and ammunition from the possession of the arrested suspect. Additionally, the confiscated vehicle contained tools commonly associated with car theft.
The spokesperson said law enforcement agencies have heightened their efforts to locate and apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the attack. Checkpoints have been established across the area to ensure their arrest.
