Panel formed for voters’ education in Haripur

HARIPUR:

District Election Commissioner Haripur, Shaukat Hussain, has formed an 18-member committee to spread awareness among the masses regarding the importance of the vote.

Representatives from the government departments, social organisations and media are included in the committee. The objective of the district voters’ education committee is to take effective measures for a successful awareness campaign regarding registration of vote.

The main target of the committee will be to provide awareness among the voters at the grassroots level which will eventually increase the total turnout of voters on the day of polling.

Haripur Additional Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Abid will represent the district administration, Professor Mohimin will represent religious clerics and Ziaul Islam will represent the media community.

The political representatives of the committee will include Sajida Hasrat Khan of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Shazia Jadoon of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Advocate Gul Zen Rasheed of Pakistan Peoples Party and Shaukatur Rehman Mashwani of Awami National Party.

Further, Sajida Malik will represent the Aghaz Foundation, Syeda Bushra Shah Jazba Foundation, Babar Mehmood Sangi Foundation, M Atif Mir PWD and Nageena Bhatti will represent minorities in the committee.

Social activist Tehssenul Haq Awan will also be a part of the committee while Saima Shaukat will represent transpersons.
