Two men involved in looting citizens by promising to double their money through spiritual powers were arrested by Dolphin Squad in the Factory Area.
An official said the suspects from Faisalabad had swindled people in several cities.
They spotted a person in distress, express sympathy and offered to double money for him by using their spiritual powers.
They asked the victim to leave his money on the ground and move ahead a few steps without looking back, after which they fled with the amount.
The men were arrested after they tried to swindle three students who were going to deposit their fees on Wednesday.
Their motorbike ran out of petrol on the Walton Road. As they were pushing the motorbike, the suspects riding a car started talking to them.
They lured the youngsters and offered to solve their financial problems if they handed over their valuables.
However, one of the students resisted, after which one of the swindlers threatened to “turn him into ashes,” the victims told the police.
When they failed to intimidate the youth, they tried to speed away while brandishing a gun, while one of the youths clung to the window of the vehicle.
A Dolphin Squad team arrived because of the commotion and arrested the suspects, Mazhar and Umair.
They were handed over to the Factory Area police.
However, an accomplice of the suspects fled.
