46,000 cops deployed for Milad security

Control rooms will remain functional round the clock

LAHORE:

Over 46,000 policemen will be deployed throughout Punjab for the security of 1,281 gatherings and 2,510 processions on the eve occasion f Eid Miladul Nabi.

Additional IG Operations Shahzada Sultan briefed IG Punjab Usman Anwar who was chairing a meeting at his office to finalise security plan for Eid Mildul Nabi.

RPOs, CPO and DPOs participated in the meeting using video link.

Anwar was apprised that there were 267 processions and 250 gatherings falling into A-category. Over 10,000 volunteers will also be deployed on the occasion.

Monitoring of processions and gatherings through CCTV cameras will be conducted. Control rooms have been set up that would remain functional round the clock.

The security arrangements have been made according to SOPs for A, B and C category processions and gathering.

The IGP issued instructions for ensuring better coordination after consultation with scholars and community leaders.

RPOs, CPOs and DPOs should themselves ensure the security arrangements, he upheld.

As far the provincial capital is concerned, over 8,600 policemen will be deployed for the security under the supervision of seven SPs, 28 DSPs, 83 SHOs and 449 upper subordinates for the security of 435 congregations, rallies and gatherings.

As many as 57 of these have been listed in category A and 288 in category B.

DIG Operations Ali Nasir Rizvi said that monitoring using CCTV cameras will be conducted. Moreover, the participants will be checked using walk-through gates. He further said that No one will be allowed entry without checking.

Elite Force, Police Response Unit and Dolphin Squad will remain on patrolling. Flag marches, search and sweep operations will be conducted.

The police officers are in contact with the organizers.
