Only Nawaz can save people from inflation: Maryam
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Senior Vice President and Chief Organiser Maryam Nawaz has assured the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir that her father and party Quaid, Nawaz Sharif, will return to Pakistan on Oct 21, saying that it is he who can save the people from skyrocketing inflation.
“Nawaz Sharif has always provided relief to the people,” Maryam said while addressing a consultative meeting of the PML-N AJK chapter via video link on Sunday.
The consultation was held on the preparations for the reception of Nawaz on his return home on Oct 21.
The PML-N chief organiser said, “People are hoping that Nawaz Sharif returns home while only the anti-constitutionalists are worried about his return.”
The party’s senior vice president said that the criminals of Kashmiris and Pakistanis could not escape the wrath of the public.
The meeting witnessed loud sloganeering in favour of Nawaz and Maryam.
The participants of the meeting were of the view that the arrival of Nawaz would protect the interests of the Pakistanis as well as the Kashmiris.
Last week while addressing an event organised by the party’s Muslim Students Federation, she recalled the moment of her arrest in front of Nawaz himself, revealing the turmoil he felt. “Despite his emotions, he advised me to stay calm and composed."
Maryam discussed the challenges she faced during her legal battles, emphasising her innocence.
She recounted the ordeal of having to appear before courts. She declared that she stood by her father's side in his testing times, regardless of anyone else's support.
Not sparing criticism, Maryam took a jibe at the five-member Supreme Court bench responsible for her father's disqualification referring to it as the "iqama bench", saying: “God will not forgive, even if she can find it in her heart to do so.”
Blaming the apex court bench for the recent inflation and economic turmoil, she highlighted the negative impact it had on the people of Pakistan who struggled to make ends meet.
She credited her father as the driving force behind Pakistan's status as a nuclear power, claiming that all the nation's plans were the brainchildren of Nawaz, and challenged anyone to produce one plan belonging to PTI Chairman Imran Khan.
She lauded the achievements of the PML-N government, saying that the people of Peshawar now had access to a metro bus system, which she stated was a project initiated by her party.
She contrasted the dire state of the country when the PML-N took office in 2013 – with extensive load-shedding of up to 20 hours and a worrisome growth rate of one per cent – to the positive impact of Nawaz’s three-year tenure, where load-shedding was eliminated and the growth rate rose to 6.1 per cent.
