Development dynamics in Sindh highlighted

A perspective of a writer, practitioner summed up in a book

SZABIST University and Sindh Abhyas Ghar oragnised the inaugural event of the book on the development dynamics in Sindh, a practioner’s perspective, written by a young development expert Javed Soz. Dr. Suleman Shaikh prominent development practitioner, Mehtab Akbar Rashidi former lawmaker, Irfan Mufti civil society leader, Javed Soz author , Mehnaz Rahman of Aurat Foundation and Dr Aijaz Qureshi Zulfqar Halepoto attended the event.

Dr Ismaeel Kumbhar Shahnaz Wazeer Ali, Dr Riaz Sheikh, Dr Ayoob Sheikh, Aijaz Khuwaja were among the speakers.

Mahtab Akbar Rashidi said that our young generation has realised the seriousness towards the development issues to advocate with policy makers and government bodies. Soz has written about girls’ education, gender inequality, economics and their participation in politics in Sindh and also suggested the solution.

Dr. Suleman Shaikh was of the view that in this book the author has not only analysed various social issues but also suggested a set of solutions under each thematic article.

Renowned civil society writer Irfan Mufti said that this book is a great contribution to the development literature in the county in order to understand peoples’ perspective with practioner’s thinking and experience.

Author of the book Javed Soz shared his views saying, “I worked in different development projects and wrote various triggering and emerging social and development issues in Sindh. These articles are written after my personal observation, analysis as a practitioner’s perspective. I think this would open a new discourse around the development of Sindh as well to attract policy makers to shift the development planning from convention top to bottom with bottom to up approach.”

He said personally I have witnessed the failures and successes of the government and non-govt development practices and tried to address in this book.
