‘Illegal’ money exchange unit busted

KURIANWALA:

A man, who owned a pump factory, was arrested by FIA allegedly over his involvement in running “an illegal money exchange unit (Hawala Hundi)”.

FIA confiscated domestic and foreign currency, laptops and mobile phones.

During the raid, the authorities allegedly found anonymous accounts in multiple banks that were allegedly being used for exchanging foreign currencies.

FIA Sub-Inspector Taimoor Haider raided the factory on Jhang Road and 660 British pounds were allegedly recovered from the pocket of the suspect.

He was taken into custody after they found a mobile phone, laptop and over one million rupees in the office drawer.

Large-scale money transactions were allegedly carried out through the suspect’s phone.
