Veteran star Saba Faisal recently shared candid insights into her plans for her son Arslan's upcoming wedding. In a heart-to-heart conversation with Nida Yasir on Good Morning Pakistan, Saba revealed her intentions to keep the festivities more modest compared to her son Salman's extravagant 11-day wedding celebration.
The actor expressed her desire to avoid going overboard this time, stating, "Last time, the wedding went on for 11 days, but not this time around. The baraat will come to Karachi. I've just made one change before the baraat arrives, I've done small - I usually say small, but then Farah (her sister) says we should make the dresses because the functions do end up taking place - so I haven't decided yet...The baraat will arrive, and when the bride leaves, I'll keep the Milad so she can be included. And one valima. That's it."
Emphasising the importance of responsible spending, she added, "No more unnecessary spending... Arslan said this. 'You will not waste money unnecessarily.'" Nida chimed in, acknowledging the wisdom of the younger generation, saying, "I do think the young ones are quite clever." To this, Saba responded, "I believe all of the elders' wisdom is in him (Arslan)."
During the conversation, Saba also revealed her role as the eldest among her sisters, which came with its share of privileges. Her sister Farah, who joined her on the show, disclosed that Saba had always been her guiding light, and she respected her decisions wholeheartedly. In a humourous interjection, Saba mentioned that her influence extended to nearly everything except her marriage.
The sibling duo also shared a charming family anecdote, explaining how Farah's early marriage came about at the age of 17. Saba disclosed, "It happened because my paternal aunt had asked for her proposal to my father when I was getting married. And my father couldn’t say no to his sister."
Reflecting on the situation, they admitted that they had encouraged Farah to decline the proposal, but they never mustered the courage to broach the topic of marriage with their father. Saba added a playful touch, mentioning Farah's excitement about the jewellery and clothing associated with the wedding.
It's worth noting that Saba is married to her cousin, Faisal Saeed, and the couple has three children, including actors Salman, Arslan, and Sadia. As preparations for Arslan's wedding unfold, Saba's commitment to a more modest celebration showcases her dedication to family values and responsible spending, especially in these dire, economically challenging times.
