Shirkat Gah Women’s Resource Centre, in collaboration with the National Commission for Human Rights, hosted a productive roundtable consultation on Monday.

The focus of this gathering was to collect essential information for the preparation of the sixth periodic report in accordance with the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).

The discussions delved into several critical areas, including recent legislation, pending bills, support mechanisms, policies, and strategic roadmaps aimed at promoting gender equality and women’s rights.

Participating stakeholders encompassed representatives from various government departments, among whom were Additional Inspector General Police Jawwad Ahmed Dogar, Secretary Home Saleh M Nasir, Additional Secretary Law & Legislation Shoukat Ali Malik, and other prominent figures.

Deliberations revolved around a wide array of themes, such as healthcare, forensic reporting, and medico-legal training, child marriage, education for school children, combating domestic violence, addressing Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG), strategies for economic empowerment.
