American singer Joe Jonas and Game of Thrones famed star Sophie Turner have confirmed they are headed for a split after four years of marriage. The couple made the announcement in a joint statement on their social media accounts. According to TMZ, Jonas initiated the divorce proceedings.

The statement on their Instagram accounts read, "Statement from the two of us: After four wonderful years of marriage, we have decided to amicably end our marriage. There are many speculative narratives as to why, but, truly, this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children."

The two connected over Instagram direct messages in 2016. In a Harper’s Bazaar UK interview, Turner revealed that mutual friends had been trying to introduce them for some time. However, an out-of-the-blue direct message from Jonas kicked off their romantic journey.

Their first in-person meeting occurred when Jonas invited Turner to join him while he toured in the UK. To ensure her safety, Turner brought along her "rugby boys," expecting Jonas to arrive with security. Much to her surprise, Jonas came with a friend, dispelling any concerns about catfishing and sparking the beginning of their romance.

In 2017, Jonas popped the question, and the couple shared their engagement with the world through matching Instagram posts. The couple's 2019 wedding was equally eventful, with a surprise ceremony in Las Vegas followed by a lavish affair in the French countryside. Their love story seemed like something out of a fairytale.

Jonas and Turner share two daughters. During their four years together, Jonas spoke about the joys of fatherhood, describing it as an incredible learning experience.
