The Karachi chapter of Jamaat-e-Islami has instilled a message of hope with its "Bano Qabil 2.0" programme, offering globally recognised LRN (Learning Resource Network) certificates in 15 different Information Technology disciplines for the youth.
Engr Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, JI Karachi's Ameer, made this announcement during a press conference at the party's headquarters in the city on Tuesday. Alkhidmat CEO Naveed Baig, Alkhidmat Executive Director Rashid Qureshi, JI Karachi Secretary of Information Zahid Askari, Bano Qabil Programme Director Farooq Kamlani, and others were also present.
Hafiz Naeem stated that JI was countering the prevailing sense of hopelessness propagated by the ruling regime by offering innovative, actionable ideas for the youth and the nation to navigate the ever-expanding crises. He pointed out that IT-based exports from Pakistan have remained below $3 billion, while the sector's potential exceeds $30 billion annually.
He also highlighted the financial burden placed on students, with private sector semester fees often out of reach for many, pushing some towards illegal activities. He emphasised that the system bears responsibility for the disillusionment and derailment of the youth, urging consideration of the factors driving street crime and tragic outcomes.
In light of the project's success, the JI has decided to expand the Bano Qabil project 2.0. The number of courses will increase from 6 to 15, campuses from 12 to 28, and student capacity to 45,000.
