Five SHOs given deadline over performance

Islamabad police chief gives 15 days for overhaul

ISLAMABAD:

In a reminder of the deteriorating law and order situation in the capital, the Islamabad police chief gave a 15-day deadline to station house officers (SHOs) of five police stations to turn around their performance.

Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Akbar Nasir Khan issued the ultimatum during a meeting on Sunday to review the security and crime situation in Islamabad. High-level officials including the Operations CPO, the senior superintendents of police (SSP) of the counter-terrorism department, operations, investigations, senior and zonal district police officers, and SHOs of police stations.

In the meeting, the performance of all the divisions was compared and each officer was interrogated separately.

The SHOs of five police stations including Abpara SHO Mateen Chaudhary, Shahzad Town SHO Tipu Sultan, Ramna SHO Alamgir Khan, Shalimar SHO Kamal Khan and Industrial Area SHO Asif Khan were given 15 days to improve performance.

The CCPO also commended the officers and departments whose performance met or exceeded expectations.

He also reiterated the importance of maintaining the security of government, police and other important private installations in the city. He underscored the importance of patrolling while calling it to be made effective. He instructed to have a weekly performance review of the specialized Dolphin Fore unit.

He instructed high-ranking officers to supervise the investigation while instructing investigation officers to ensure case challans were sent to the courts in the specified time.

The capital police chief noted the increase in street crime and planned hold-ups and called for a comprehensive strategy to prevent such incidents. A safe parking system should be designed and implemented to prevent vehicle theft, he told officers.

Dr Khan issued instructions to the department to cooperate with the CTD in operations against those involved in financing terrorism and extremism.
