Five more cities to have model graveyards

After the provincial capital, the Punjab government is building model graveyards in Dera Ghazi Khan, Faisalabad, Sheikhupura, Rahim Yar Khan and Sahiwal.

The local government secretary said while briefing Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi about the Shehr-e-Khamoshan that the burial fee in the model cemeteries has been reduced from Rs10,000 to Rs3,500.

He said the citizens could contact phone number 1190 to avail the ambulance service for the graveyard.

The model graveyard covering 127 kanals of land has been built along Sundar Road in Raiwind along with boundary wall, funeral and ablution places.

The graveyard has a capacity of more than 12,000 graves.

Meanwhile, the caretaker CM has also sought recommendations for the preparation of a special package to provide facilities to the cultivators.
