Rasti Farooq shares similar sentiments with Kalki Koechlin about re-imagining promotions for film

Our own aspiring actor from Joyland eagerly expressed her agreement with the Indian artist

Entertainment Desk September 01, 2023

As Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’s Kalki Koechlin jets off to promote her comeback film, Goldfish, the actor spends time on her Instagram to share her two cents on promotional expectations from actors.

The actor speaks of her inability to understand the need for actors as advertisers – and, more so, the manner in which actors are expected to promote projects. As she rants amidst Mumbai traffic, our very own Joyland’s Rasti Farooq seems to agree with the sentiment.

While Koechlin shares her excitement for her new film, Goldfish, the French actor known for her roles in Hindi films takes time to explain that while she understands the process of preparing for a role as an actor, she remains clueless about the apparent process an actor has to take to pose as a promotor.

She exclaims, “When you’re an actor doing film or theatre, and you have to prepare to take on a persona, do research on that persona…then you’re eventually ready. And even if you aren’t, your director and editor help you. But for promotions, they say: ‘Do something,’ ‘Come on, do something.’ Do what? How do we entertain you?”

While Kalki shares the absurdity in the expectations, the aspiring Pakistani actor seems to share the sentiments as she reposts the actor’s rant to her Instagram Stories.

While Farooq empathises with the humorous rant, she herself brings up the larger question of rethinking promotional work for actors through her caption: “In all seriousness though, one of my pipe dreams is someday having a seat at the table where we’re finally ready to reimagine promotional work for films/TV.”
