QUETTA:

Residents of Hanna Urak have fervently appealed to the government for immediate action in implementing a comprehensive rehabilitation and resettlement plan, aimed at alleviating the plight of those affected by devastating floods.

This resolute call comes as individuals grapple with the aftermath of last year’s flash floods, which ravaged homes, agricultural lands, and water channels, leading to substantial financial losses. Despite the passage of nearly a year, those affected remain in a state of limbo, awaiting the promised government assistance to reconstruct their lives.

Malik Nasir Kakar, a prominent voice among the flood victims from Hanna Valley, expressed the pressing urgency of the situation.

He highlighted that the once-thriving tourist destination of Hanna Urak in Quetta had borne the brunt of the calamitous floods. He implored the government to translate words into action, stressing the imperative need for damage assessment and the swift formulation of a reconstruction strategy.

The unprecedented deluge last year inflicted severe damage on crucial roadways, significantly impeding the locals’ ability to access medical facilities and transport produce to markets. Malik Nasir Kakar elucidated these challenges, underlining the necessity for immediate attention to alleviate these difficulties.
