KARACHI:

A Special Anti-Terrorism Court has directed police to provide facilities to detained PTI leader Raja Azhar as per law.

The Special ATC extended Azhar’s physical remand for two more days while accepting the request of the investigating officer in the May 9 protest and riot cases. Tipu Sultan police station investigation officer produced former MPA Raja Azhar in the court on completion of physical remand. The investigation officer submitted that the accused has also been arrested in the case registered at Ferozabad police station. Ferozabad police also have to interrogate the suspect. Therefore the physical remand of the accused should be extended.

The defence team from Insaf Lawyer Forum submitted that even basic facilities are not being provided to the ex-MPA who is a victim of political vendetta. The defence counsel said that though Azhar was in the lock up, police are not allowing the family to give him home cooked food.
