Federal Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Dr Babar Awan said the legal fraternity is passing through a difficult phase.

He was addressing the Punjab Bar Council in Lahore. He said there are many who like to criticize, but there is no one to focus on the development of the lawyers' community.

Awan said the government is trying to fix a quota for the lawyers for their housing societies. He said he has also urged the provincial governments to provide medical facilities to the lawyers, just as they are provided to government employees.

In addition, Awan announced Rs12.5 million for the Punjab Bar Council in the next budget.

Earlier, Awan said he would visit all bar associations across the country to listen to the problems of the lawyers’ community so that steps could be taken for their welfare.
