Martyrs’ sacrifices will not go in vain, vows army chief

Terrorists, facilitators, abettors will be hunted down until their surrender to state, says Gen Munir during SW visit

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir on Wednesday said that martyrs are our pride and their sacrifices will not go in vain till the return of complete peace and stability in Pakistan, the military said.

He said this while visiting Sherwangi area near Asman Manza in South Waziristan district, where six brave soldiers had embraced martyrdom yesterday while fighting gallantly against terrorists, the Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

Upon arrival, the army chief was given a detailed briefing on the prevailing security situation including ongoing intelligence and counter-terrorism operations.

Gen Munir, while interacting with officers and troops deployed in the area, appreciated their unflinching resolve in fighting the menace of terrorism. “Shuhadas are our pride and their sacrifices will not go in vain till the return of complete peace and stability in Pakistan,” he was quoted as saying by the military’s media wing.

The COAS emphasised that terrorists, their affiliates and abettors working on the behest of hostile agenda to destabilise Pakistan will be hunted down until their surrender to the State of Pakistan.

Earlier on arrival, the army chief was received by Commander Peshawar Corps.
