Young woman ‘missing’ from Pir’s mansion

The girl was handed over to the Pir by her parents until a domestic dispute between both parties was resolved

A 20-year-old girl was reportedly missing from Pir Syed Sohail Ahmad Shah’s mansion in Khairpur’s Ranipur, Sindh, Express News reported on Monday.

The girl from Meena village in the Qamber area was handed over to the Pir by her parents until a domestic dispute between the two parties was resolved.

According to the parents, Pir Shah had asked for the girl to be left at his mansion until their dispute was resolved. However, they claimed that they received a call all of a sudden mentioning their daughter’s disappearance. The parents lamented that they were not informed about her whereabouts.

Remand extended

A court in Khairpur district on Monday extended the physical remand of Pir Syed Asad Ali Shah, the main accused in the murder FIR of his minor housemaid 10-year-old Fatima Phuriro.

The Ranipur police produced Asad Shah before the court and requested extension of his custody for further interrogation, telling the court that their investigation is making headway as the child’s body was exhumed for postmortem on August 19.  Meanwhile, the victim’s mother  Shabnum Phuriro, warned of self-immolation if the accused Shah and his wife are given favour.
