An SHC bench granted bail to 19 supporters of PTI Chairman under arrest for May 9 riots against Rs0.1 million surety bond each. They were arrested in cases registered at Tipu Sultan and Sharae Faisal police stations.
A two-member bench led by Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto and Justice Kausar Sultana Hussain heard the bail plea. Regarding the accusation of a police officer being injured by the PTI activists, Justice Phulpoto asked the prosecution, “What kind of injuries did the injured officers suffer?”
The investigating officer responded that the injuries had been recorded in the medico-legal report. The defendant’s attorney said, “we could not get the copy of the medical certificates of the injured officers despite our best efforts.”
How many days have passed since the event, Justice Kausar Sultana said, to which the prosecutor said “it’s a May 9 case.” Justice Kausar said the lawyer of the defendants should inform the court himself.
