Shraddha Kapoor wants to play Lata Mangeshkar in a biopic

Actor expressed her desire to someday portray iconic songstress on the silver screen

At a recent fan meet-and-greet, actor Shraddha Kapoor expressed her desire to play the late legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar in a biopic, as per Filmfare. Shraddha is no stranger to the genre of biographical films, having played Haseena Parkar in the 2017 crime film titled Haseena Parkar.

The Stree (2018) star shared her hopes to one day embody the iconic songstress on the silver screen in response to a fan’s question. During the Q-and-A session of the meetup, a fan asked her which historical figure she would like to portray in a film.

Before she could respond, another fan from the crowd suggested her maternal aunt Padmini Kohlapure’s name who also happens to be a member of the Bollywood acting clan. To this, Shraddha responded "Best answer! Best answer! I think ki yeh bohot hi achcha suggestion hai (I think this is a great suggestion).”

She then added that she would also love to play Lata Mangeshkar in a biopic, if ever given the opportunity, saying “It’s a very big aim, but you never know”.

The Aashiqui 2 (2013) star is the daughter of renowned Indian actor Shakti Kapoor and made her debut in Bollywood back in 2010. She last appeared in 2023’s romantic comedy Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar and is now awaiting the release of her film Stree 2, the sequel to the horror comedy Stree that came out in 2018.
