Oxygen plant inaugurated

Established with UNICEF partnership, initiative expected to result in annual savings of around Rs50m for treasury

On Wednesday, the inauguration ceremony of an oxygen plant, established through a partnership with UNICEF, took place at the District Headquarters Hospital.

Mehar Mohammad Hayat, Secretary of Primary and Secondary Health Care, South Punjab, officiated the event alongside Wilbrad Negmabi, Chief Field Officer of UNICEF Punjab. Notable attendees included DG Health Services, Doctor Zafar Iqbal, and MS DHQ Hospital, Dr Ziaul Hassan.

The initiative is expected to result in annual savings of approximately Rs50 million for the national exchequer. The oxygen plant will not only serve the hospital’s needs but also cater to all health units operating within the district, as per the Health Department.

Further plans include the installation of a 250-kilowatt solar plant in the hospital in the coming days, as informed by the department.

Acknowledging UNICEF’s significant contributions to enhancing the region’s standards, Secretary Mehar Mohammad Hayyat expressed appreciation for their commendable role.
