‘Bandit’ killed in ‘police encounter’

Constable sustains serious injuries during shootout with ‘criminals’

OKARA:

A “bandit” was killed while a police constable was seriously injured during an alleged police encounter in the limits of Saddar Police Station in Okara, police said.

However, an accomplice of the bandit fled, they said.

The injured constable was shifted to the district headquarters hospital.

Police were conducting raids to arrest the absconding bandit.

Police said that two “bandits” riding a motorcycle had been robbing people on the Depalpur Road area.

As soon as police received information about the incident, a team of the Dolphin Squad rushed to the spot.

Upon seeing the police squad, the bandits opened fire on them, police said.

Constable Azmat was injured while one of the bandits was killed during the encounter. The DPO of Okara and DSP Meher Yousaf visited the hospital to inquire after the health of the injured constable.
