LAHORE:

On the orders of Punjab's Chief Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, a significant development has occurred regarding the screening of the Hollywood movie Barbie in the province. A full censor board meeting has been scheduled for today (Tuesday) to reevaluate the film's content and decide whether to grant permission for its screening in Punjab. The decision comes after Barbie was previously banned in the region due to objectionable content.

Punjab's Information Minister, Aamir Mir, announced the crucial development, stating, "Barbie was previously banned in Punjab due to objectionable content." This meeting holds the potential to determine the fate of the film's release in Punjab.

The controversy surrounding Barbie prompted the Punjab government to take action and reevaluate its content. Mir affirmed, "The Punjab government had decided to send the film to the censor board for reevaluation." The reevaluation process will involve all 12 members of the censor board Punjab, including Chairman Touqeer Nasir. Mir emphasised, "All 12 members of the censor board Punjab, including Chairman Touqeer Nasir, will be present in the film's board review."

Barbie faced a ban in Punjab due to the presence of "objectionable content", which allegedly raised concerns among citizens and authorities alike. The focus of the reevaluation process will be to remove any material deemed objectionable and ensure that the film complies with the censorship guidelines set by the Punjab government. Mir stated, "After removing objectionable content, Barbie can be allowed for release."

The outcome of the full censor board meeting is highly anticipated by both the film industry and the public. The decision to either grant or deny permission for the screening of Barbie in Punjab will have a significant impact on the film's fate in the region.
