In a recent interview, Indian actor Manoj Bajpayee dismissed reports claiming his net worth to be close to INR 1.7 billion. The versatile performer, known for his outstanding work in projects like The Family Man and Gulmohar, laughed off such claims, asserting that he is still struggling for financial stability. For Bajpayee, monetary gains take a backseat to his passion for the craft and the love he receives from his audience.

In a conversation with Hindustan Times, Bajpayee shared that its “impossible” for him to make that kind of money. “Making that sort of money is impossible with the kind of work that I do with such as Aligarh (2015) and Bhonsle (2018). I am still struggling to get some money into my kitty,” he laughed. “Now, after reading these reports, I just hope that the producers will now raise my salary.”

Sharing his first reaction on reading the reports, the 54-year-old confessed laughing out loud. “I think to myself, ‘I wish this was true’... At least, I could then just take off to some faraway place and be easy in life,” he said.

The Family Man actor is committed to his principles and stated that thoughts of pursuing projects solely for the big bucks have never crossed his mind. For him, the love and appreciation he receives from the audience and well-wishers hold far more significance than financial rewards.

“I am not driven to projects that only pay big bucks. That’s because I can’t do it. If that had been in my mind, I would have done it 25 years ago, when I was far younger,” he said. “It is not me. That is who I am and a part of my personality. I can’t work only for money, for me craft is very important. And in return, I just hope I get love from the audience and my well-wishers to pray for me.”

With a career spanning three decades across cinema and the digital realm, Bajpayee has honed the ability to detach himself from the allure of success, failure, and rejection. He shared that while he celebrates milestones with his team, he swiftly moves on to embrace new challenges.

On the work front, amidst the success of OTT show Sirf Ek Banda Kaafi Hai, which even earned a theatrical release, Bajpayee now looks forward to shoot for the third season of The Family Man in November.
