KARACHI:

Justice Abdul Mubeen Lakho of the Sindh High Court (SHC) has recused himself from hearing the bail petition of Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani, accused of amassing assets beyond declared income and the misuse of powers. Subsequently, the court referred the matter to the chief justice for reconstitution of bench for the case.

When a two-member bench, took up Durrani’s bail application on Thursday, Justice Lakho expressed his inability to hear the case. Jafar Raza Advocate, representing the petitioner, pleaded the court to set a new hearing date.

In response, Justice Faisal highlighted that once a judge recuses himself from a case, they cannot set a new hearing date.
