Stepmother confesses to murder of Ghotki siblings

Separately, three siblings drowned while swimming in a rainwater-filled ditch in Talhar village

HYDRABAD:

In a startling disclosure, a woman confessed to killing her two stepchildren and dumping their bodies in a graveyard.

Bodies of 12-year-old Salman Laghari and 9-year-old Kulsoom Laghari were found dumped at Dahiri Shah Graveyard in Ghotki district on July 13. There was a public outcry with social and political circles demanding exemplary punishment for the perpetrator of such a heinous crime.

Ghotki police finally questioned the stepmother, Allah Dini Laghari. She broke down during police interrogation and confessed to have poisoned Salman and Kulsoom while visiting the Dahiri Shah Shrine.

The bodies were then disposed of in the Dahiri Shah Graveyard.

Allah Dini During told the police that she was tired of the children and wanted to get rid of them. She had married their father, Qurban Laghari, a few years ago.

In a separate incident, three siblings tragically drowned while swimming in a rainwater-filled ditch in a village in Talhar, Badin district, on Saturday.

Residents rescued 15-year-old Simran Memon, 8-year-old Sameer Memon, and 6-year-old Shahjahan Memon, but they were unresponsive and pronounced dead at a nearby healthcare facility.
