Marvel enthusiasts can rejoice as Hugh Jackman is set to don Wolverine's iconic yellow suit in the upcoming film, Deadpool 3. Both Jackman and his co-star Ryan Reynolds took to their Instagram Stories to share a sneak peek of their characters in costume.
Reynolds showcased a slightly modified version of his previous Deadpool attire, while Jackman delighted fans with a yellow and blue suit reminiscent of Wolverine's appearance in the comics and the popular X-Men animated series from the 1990s.
The social media posts featured the caption, "Don't blink," creating anticipation among eager fans.
This marks a long-awaited moment for Jackman, who portrayed Wolverine in multiple X-Men films but never had the opportunity to wear the character's classic costume associated with the animated version. Although a joke was made about the suit in the original X-Men film, it never materialised on screen, despite a deleted scene in The Wolverine teasing its inclusion.
Reynolds and director Shawn Levy, who have collaborated with Jackman in the past and encouraged him to reprise the role, played a crucial role in bringing this fan-favourite costume to life in Deadpool 3.
The revelation follows reports that Jennifer Garner, who previously worked with Reynolds and Levy on The Adam Project, will reprise her Marvel role as Elektra in the film. Additionally, Deadpool 3 will feature returning cast members Rob Delaney as Sugar Bear, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, and Stefan Kapicic as Colossus. Newcomers to the franchise include Emma Corrin and Matthew Macfadyen.
Understandably, Wolverine fans are thrilled at the development. "Oh my God, he has the suit on!" exclaimed one fan on Twitter. "Never thought I’d see these two in a picture together," wrote another fan on the microblogging site.
