Valuables worth Rs13.9m robbed from PTA official’s residence

Complaint says robber broke into house by sawing through its window

A director general of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) who had gone to his hometown for Eidul Azha told the police that cash and valuables worth Rs13.9 million had been robbed from his residence during that time.

According to a complaint filed with the Aapbara police, PTA Director General Technical Kamran Khan Gandapur stated that he was a resident of Sector G-7/4.

When he returned home after the Eid holidays, he found out that someone had used a saw to cut out the window of his house.

It stated that the list of items, including cash, stolen during the robbery amounted to Rs13.9 million.

The stolen items included gold ornaments of 35 tolas, worth around Rs8.285 million. Several weapons including a hunting gun worth Rs1.4 million, a Winchester shotgun worth Rs500,000 and a Kalashnikov worth Rs220,000 were included in the stolen items. A laptop worth over half a million rupees was also reported missing.

The PTA official had five watches at his home worth Rs800,000, five cell phones worth Rs200,000, seven ‘imported’ sunglasses worth Rs250,000, perfumes and other cosmetics worth Rs450,000 and a suitcase full of valuables worth Rs150,000. The stolen items also included a pen worth Rs100,000.

Gandapur reported that the robbers also stole cash, including Rs300,000 in Pakistani currency, USD800 (Pakistani = Rs225,000 approximately), and Saudi currency of the value of Rs80,000.

The Aabpara police said they were investigating but were yet to track down the accused.
