Main suspect of TikToker’s death escapes to London

Police say expat billionaire threw party at DHA bungalow where a trafficker arranged liquor, drugs and dancing girls

The main suspect of the death of a woman due to drug overdose at a party in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) a few days ago had fled to London the same day, South Zone SSP Asad Raza said on Tuesday.

In a morbid disclosure of the dark side of the moneyed class, it has transpired that a multi-billionaire expatriate Pakistani had booked the house in the upscale neighbourhood of DHA Phase I where a woman allegedly died of drug overdose.

Ayesha Hanif, a TikToker, was drugged and abused at the party on the night between June 23 and 24 and when she expired due to overdose; her body was abandoned at Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre (JPMC).

SSP Raza told the media at a press conference that the man who had left the body at JPMC, Jibran Jimmy, was identified with the help of CCTV footage of JPMC emergency ward and was arrested last night.

He said the party was thrown by Sameer Wahid, who is being considered the main suspect in the case. A graduate of University of Michigan, Wahid runs the UK-based Green Plastic Group. His father has a business in Dubai and is also the founder and CEO of Rawtech, a company registered in England.

Flanked by SP Investigation South Abraiz Ali Abbasi and other police officers, SSP Raza said that Sameer uses a Dubai number through a social networking application in Pakistan, whose records have also been obtained. Sameer has a National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) and his details were available on his social media accounts.

Police have also obtained all the records of Sameer's arrival at Jinnah International Terminal Karachi on June 19 and departure to London on the evening of June 24.

SSP Raza has said that Sameer came to Karachi from Dubai on June 19 and got a bungalow on rent for the purpose of a business deal. However, he got his friends together for a wild party bringing in liquor, drugs and dancing girls.

He said police managed to arrest the man who had left Ayesha’s body at hospital, Jibran alias Jimmy on Monday. A local of the notorious Heera Mandi of Lahore, Jimmy was now running prostitution network in Karachi.

The SSP said that the deceased woman and other women who were invited by the persons have also been identified too.

Regarding Sameer Wahid, the SSP said that he uses a Dubai mobile number and police do not have access to call data record (CDR) of Dubai numbers.

The police are on the trail of the accused and the investigating police (IO) is doing its work and is trying to arrest all the accused as soon as possible and brought the culprit to justice, he concluded.

‘Her husband pushed her into drugs’

Sultan Hanif, father of deceased Ayesha, said that his daughter was an angel, never smoked, let alone doing drugs and dancing on TikTok.

“Her husband, Adil, who she had married out of her own free will and against our wishes, had pushed her into drugs and dancing videos,” he said, choking with tears while talking to the media after receiving the body of his daughter at Chippa Mortuary. “Her husband and in-laws forced her into the network of dance parties and using drugs and they are responsible for her death,” he said.

“I talked to my daughter on June 23. I invited her on Eid but she refused due to family issues,” he said, adding “I came to know about her death through TV, social media and newspapers and reached Karachi from Okara.” Hanif said that police have assured him of bringing the culprits to justice.

Special team formed

South Zone DIG Irfan Ali Baloch has assembled a special team led by South Zone SP Investigation Abriz Ali Abbasi to investigate Ayesha Hanif’s death.

The team includes Clifton SP Ahmed Chaudhry, Frere police station SHO, Defence police station SHO, and station investigation officer.

The team was ordered to utilise all available resources to bring the case to a logical conclusion to apprehend the fugitive suspects, and a team performance report should be sent.
