KARACHI:

A tragic incident unfolded at Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre (JPMC) as two individuals left the body of a young woman, identified as Aisha, at the hospital after she allegedly lost her life due to excessive drug abuse during a party in Karachi.

The incident has sparked a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the woman's death.

According to CCTV footage, a man and a woman arrived at the hospital at approximately 7:30am on Saturday, bringing the lifeless body of the 20-year-old girl. However, they quickly departed the premises by 7:42am, leaving hospital staff with little information. The Emergency department's CCTV cameras captured images of the individuals and their vehicle.

The woman introduced herself as Sehrish, while the man identified himself as Jibran. They claimed that Aisha was 20 years old and married to a person named Kashif. They also mentioned that Aisha had consumed a large quantity of drugs during a party held in the upscale neighborhood of Defence Housing Authority (DHA).

Approximately six hours later, a post-mortem examination was conducted on the body at JPMC. Dr Summaiya, the police surgeon, reported that there were no signs of violence on the body. The exact cause of death will be determined after the chemical analysis report, and efforts are underway to obtain fingerprint evidence to confirm the deceased's identity.

Disturbingly, sources within the hospital revealed that the woman's body showed signs of sexual assault before her demise. After the autopsy, the body was transferred to the morgue for further investigation.

Meanwhile, the police managed to trace the car used by the suspects by obtaining its registration number. They apprehended the owner, Nadeem Wali, in Golimar. Wali informed the authorities that he had rented out the vehicle. The police collected the suspects' contact details from Wali and are actively working to apprehend them.

SSP South Asad Raza commented that the available information suggests a drug overdose as the cause of death, considering the location of the party and the known identities of the individuals involved. The police are currently investigating the precise details of the event and are awaiting confirmation of the deceased woman's identity from her relatives. Once confirmed, appropriate legal action will be taken.

Furthermore, the police have revealed that the girl hailed from Punjab and was the daughter of a woman residing in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. She had come to the DHA bungalow for the party. The search for the owner of the bungalow is underway.

Adding another layer of complexity to the case, a woman claiming to be the girl's mother-in-law disclosed that Aisha had informed her of attending a birthday party last night. She further revealed that Aisha's husband, who is her own son, is a drug addict. The mother-in-law expressed her lack of knowledge regarding her son's whereabouts. She recognised the girl from media coverage and confirmed that Aisha resided in Gulistan-e-Jauhar.
