A judicial magistrate in Peshawar has declared the Station House Officer (SHO) of Badhaber Police Station, Abdul Ali alias Gabbar, as an absconder and issued his permanent arrest warrants in a contempt of court case. A written verdict has also been released in this regard.
The case was heard by Judicial Magistrate Jameel Faqir on a contempt petition filed against the SHO for failing to return a citizen's vehicle that was ordered to be handed over on superdari (temporary custody) despite a court directive.
The court was informed that on June 21, an order was issued to return the vehicle to the citizen. However, the SHO has yet to comply. According to the written judgment, multiple notices were served to the SHO under various legal provisions, but he only submitted a written response stating that an inquiry into the vehicle was ongoing.
The court noted that the SHO repeatedly failed to appear in court and continued to ignore judicial orders. Consequently, proceedings under Section 512 of the Criminal Procedure Code were initiated, declaring the SHO an absconder and issuing his perpetual arrest warrants. Furthermore, the court ordered the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Peshawar to include the SHO's name in the official list of absconders.
