Fans went crazy when Arijit Singh covered Ali Sethi and Shae Gill’s Pasoori at a Dubai concert, but little did they know that he would be singing it officially for Sajid Nadiadwala’s film starring Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani.
Satyaprem Ki Katha is set to feature a remake of the popular Coke Studio hit Pasoori. Aaryan took to social media to confirm the news and share a teaser of the song titled Pasoori Nu. “Relive the global hit! Sattu - Katha’s pure love gets the magical touch of Arijit Singh’s voice. Pasoori Nu out tomorrow at 11:11 AM,” he wrote. The song will be released on Monday morning, just a few days before the film hits the big screens.

The teaser gives a glimpse of Aaryan and Advani’s on-screen chemistry as they don matching outfits and exude sizzling energy in the song. The original version of Pasoori was released in 2022 and gained immense popularity. It was even performed at Coachella this year by Sethi.
However, the news of the song remake has sparked mixed reactions on social media. Outraged by the news, fans first objected to how Bollywood could turn Pasoori’s lyrics into a romantic ballad. Users even criticised the decision to remake the song, questioning its need and accusing Indian artists of disrespecting Pakistani artists.
“Pasoori remake doesn’t make sense. Aren’t there other singers except Arijit Singh? I’m tired of hearing him. Also, those lyrics of Pasoori ain’t romantic. What the hell is wrong with the team?” read a tweet under the post.

A user remarked that Aaryan will regret his choices later. “Kartik is getting it wrong. Songs play a huge role in forming up actor's legacy (mainstream actor) in the long run. Remaking a hit song might help him today but nobody will remember this song was even there in the movie in 2-3 yrs time,” the tweet read.

Another user shared how Singh is trying very hard to sound like Sethi in the remake. “By the way, Arijit sounds like he is actually heavily influenced by how Ali sethi sings because truly this isn't how Arijit actually sounds like.”

A tweep was just done with Bollywood being shameful and a hypocrite. “Banning Pakistani artists from working in the industry, meanwhile having no shame remaking – not to add butchering – a beloved pop culture hit just to create a little buzz around your next film. Bollywood keeps going lower. Have some shame,” they wrote.

Despite the controversy surrounding the song remake, the makers of Satyaprem Ki Katha have been actively promoting the film and have already unveiled several tracks from its soundtrack.
Directed by Sameer Vidhwans, "Satyaprem Ki Katha" revolves around Aaryan's character, Satyaprem, a virgin from a Gujarati background, who is desperately seeking marriage. He finds true love in Advani's character, Katha, and the film follows their endearing love story. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on June 29.
