'Lust Stories 2' trailer: Love, desire, and everything in between

Netflix India's highly anticipated anthology, Lust Stories 2, is set to premiere on June 29, serving as a sequel to the 2018 original that captivated audiences with its exploration of diverse perspectives on love, desire, and everything else in between. The trailer offers a glimpse into the intriguing narratives that await viewers.

Opening with veteran actor Neena Gupta, who portrays a grandmother in the anthology, the trailer immediately grabs one's attention. Gupta's brazen comparison of a body to Mount Fuji seems to have started quite a stir online, as well as in the trailer. She draws a parallel between the eruption of lust and the fiery passion of a volcano.

Her character playfully suggests that her granddaughter, portrayed by the talented Mrunal Thakur, should engage in a "test drive" with her prospective husband, played by Angad Bedi. This proposition leaves her son and daughter-in-law in an awkward predicament, attempting to maintain their composure while grappling with the unconventional suggestion.

Another intriguing storyline features the versatile Kajol, who embraces a de-glamorised avatar portraying a middle-class woman. In this tale, Kajol's character suspects her husband, played by Kumud Mishra, of harbouring lustful desires for their house help. Taking matters into her own hands, she replaces the house help, much to her husband's dismay. The trailer also hints at an intense scene between Kajol and Mishra.

Exploring the dynamics between employers and house helps, Lust Stories 2 delves into the complex relationship between Tillotama Shome's character and her house help, portrayed by Amruta Subhash. Shome's character discovers her house help sleeping with a delivery man and shares this shocking revelation with a friend over the phone.

In a subsequent scene, the employer and employee engage in a heated argument, competing over who holds the moral high ground. This glimpse into their conflict evokes memories of Zoya Akhtar's short film in the first instalment of Lust Stories, where Bhumi Pednekar's character embarks on an affair with her employer before witnessing him agree to an arranged marriage.

Rounding off the anthology is the compelling tale featuring Vijay Varma's character, who sneaks into the home of his former lover, portrayed by the talented Tamannaah Bhatia. However, she firmly objects to engaging in a physical relationship with him due to his marital status. It is intriguing to note that the real-life couple has already managed to set social media ablaze with the news of their being together. This storyline adds another layer of complexity to Lust Stories 2, exploring the dilemmas of love and fidelity.

Directed by a talented lineup including Amit R Sharma, R Balki, Sujoy Ghosh, and Konkona Sensharma, the exact directorial assignments for each short film remain undisclosed in the trailer. Produced by RSVP Movies, headed by Ronnie Screwvala, and Ashi Dua's Flying Unicorn Entertainment, Lust Stories 2 promises to deliver captivating narratives that delve into the intricacies of intimacy.
