Sindh Labour and Human Resources Minister Saeed Ghani said on Monday that finally the process of the formation of the municipal bodies in the province, which had been continuing since the local government elections, has been completed.
Ghani stated this on Monday after the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected chairmen and vice-chairmen of three municipal towns in East district belonging to the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
The oath-taking ceremony was held at the office of East district deputy commissioner for the chairmen and vice chairmen of Chanesar Town, Sohrab Goth Town, and Safoora Town.
Ghani, who is also PPP Karachi president, said the newly elected chairmen and vice chairmen of the municipal bodies would start discharging their duties after taking the oath of their offices.
He told the media persons that JI's candidate in the mayoral poll had secured 160 votes instead of 193 votes while PPP's candidate Murtaza Wahab had bagged 173 votes. He said that whoever bagged the most votes was declared the winner in an election.
He said that it had been obligatory upon the JI to make sure that 32 absentee members of the City Council from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf should have taken part in the polling for the mayoral election.
"The PTI in the present day is facing disintegration and no doubt we have become the beneficiary of this situation but it is undue on the part of Jamaat-e-Islami to blame us for this state," said Ghani.
