ISLAMABAD:

Taking notice of the complaints regarding the exploitation of people by blackmail, harassment and unjustified delays in submission of challans of under-investigation cases, Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr Akbar Nasir Khan, on Monday suspended the Station House Officer (SHO) of Shehzad Town Police Station.

It has been reported that the IGP conducted a surprise visit to the Shehzad Town Police Station, where a check of the investigation records revealed that most of the cases were poorly investigated.

The investigation of most of the cases was kept in abeyance due to the alleged misconduct of SHO Azim Minhas, at which the IGP expressed strong displeasure and immediately suspended Minhas.

The IGP reviewed the facilities provided to the police employees in the police station and after appointing a new officer-in-charge of the police station directed him to handle the cases under investigation in the police station within 48 hours.

Dr Khan issued instructions to the new officer-in-charge of the police station to make proper arrangements for the cleanliness and record maintenance of the offices and residential barracks in the police station.

“Reconnect with the people in the area. Reduce crime with the help of dignitaries in the area and the staff stationed in the police station. Check all the records and settle the cases under investigation as soon as possible. Maintain complete attendance record at the front desk and biometric system,” the IGP said while giving directives to the new officer-in-charge.
