A man was arrested over the alleged murder of his daughter in Lalazar Colony on Monday.
The suspect was accused by his wife of forcing the victim to consume acid, strangling her with a scarf and burying her body.
According to the police, Farzana Bibi, wife of Mohammad Iftikhar, a resident of Lalazar Colony, gave a statement detailing the events. She stated that she has eight daughters and one son.
Her 15-year-old daughter Amna Bibi had left her home on May 16 and she returned to a bus stop a month later from where she and her husband brought her back.
The complainant stated that her husband attempted to force acid into Amna's mouth, but she resisted. Alarmed by the commotion, Farzana rushed to the courtyard and tried to intervene, but her husband declared that the girl had tarnished their honour and he would not spare her life.
Subsequently, Iftikhar forced Amna to consume the acid, followed by strangulation. Later that night, at around 11pm, he performed the burial rites and laid her to rest in a nearby cemetery.
Based on the statement, the police took Iftikhar into custody, identified the burial location and exhumed the body.
