A popular bakery in Punjab has threatened legal action against anyone who tries to 'tarnish the hard-earned reputation' of the brand. It all began when a tweep shared pictures on social media, alleging that he found a lizard in one of Layers Bakeshop's cakes. Since then, the aforementioned bakery has come under fire.
The tweep, sharing that he had bought the said cake from a branch in Faisalabad, revealed how he found the reptile in his cake. Soon after, another video from a different account made rounds where the Twitter user claimed he faced the same issue, however in Islamabad. He posted a video, tagging Islamabad police and DC Islamabad. The latter then took notice of the incident.
Dear sir, the complaint is noted for necessary inspection.

Things turned serious when another alleged video surfaced on social media and it was rumoured that several Layers branches have been sealed. The Express Tribune could not independently verify the mentioned clips and pictures.
However, the bakeshop has rubbished all accusations, terming that their "factory adheres to the highest standards of cleanliness." In an Instagram post, the brand shared, "Dear Valued Customers, we wanted to personally reach out to address recent false allegations circulating about Layers. We find ourselves in an unfortunate situation where our brand, Layers, has been subject to baseless allegations that aim to tarnish our hard-earned reputation."
The statement went on to read, "We take immense pride in the quality and hygiene of our products. Our factory adheres to the highest standards of cleanliness. It is technically impossible for foreign objects, such as the alleged lizard, to be found in our baked goods."
Highlighting that legal action may be taken, Layer's Bakeshop shared, "We reserve the right to take legal action against those involved in defamation of our brand according to the Cybercrime Laws of Pakistan. Your trust means the world to us, and we want to reassure you that we are fully committed to delivering the best products possible."
In the end, they thanked everyone who had shown 'trust' in their brand. "Thank you for your unwavering support. If you have any concerns or questions, please don't hesitate to contact us directly. With heartfelt appreciation," the statement concluded.
It is also notable that social media star, Adnan Zafar, aka Ken Doll Dubai, took to Instagram and shared his two cents on the ongoing fiasco. Claiming to have worked in the Quality and Customer Service department alongside the Hospitality sector for over 11 years, Zafar shared that there is no chance for the reptile to have a 'soft' texture if it had been baked while the cake was baked at 200 C.
Adnan Zafar has a point though! 🤔
