KARACHI:

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah made surprise visits to various areas of the city to ensure the removal of billboards, neon signs, traffic sign boards, and other loose installations to avert damage or any untoward incidents during the cyclonic winds, which are expected to lash the city on June 15.

Murad, accompanied by Chief Secretary Sohail Rajput and Commissioner Iqbal Memon moved about without any protocol. The CM started his visit right from Shahrae Faisal opposite the FTC building, making stops at the Nursery Market, and the Karachi airport.

CM pointed out that the frames of the billboards were still fixed and only panaflex were removed. The CM directed the commissioners to activate his deputy commissioners and DMCs to remove them.

The chief minister stopped at Quaidabad to visit an old building where not only people were living but billboards were hanging from rooftop. He got the signboards removed and asked the commissioner to shift the people living in the dilapidated building to a secure place.

Murad then went to Chashma Goth, Rehri Goth, Ibrahim Hyderi, and Korangi Creek to review the shifting of the people from the shoreline fishermen villages to safer areas.
