Police had to resort to aerial firing to disperse a crowd that had converged on the Surjani police station to protest the murder of a youth Abdul Wakil.
Surjani police also arrested four persons among the dozens of people who had barged into the precinct and beat up cops on the duty.
According to West SSP Bashir Memon, police only fired aerial shots to disperse the crowd that had gathered outside the police station first to protest against death of a man and later to get the four people freed who had been arrested for storming the precinct.
SSP said they had to call in back up as the crowd kept swelling.
The protestors told the media that police have failed to arrest the killers of their brother, Wakil, and when they came to protest, the cops opened fire on them.
