Girl standing in gallery killed by stray bullet

Having lost son to road accident last year, expat family comes back to lose daughter to aerial firing

KARACHI:

A teenage girl standing in the gallery of a house in the Mansehra Colony was hit by a bullet in her forehead. She died on the spot.

As soon as the incident was reported, the police reached the spot and arrested the accused who carried out aerial firing and transferred him to the Sharafi Goth police station.

Ghayas Ahmed, settled in Saudi Arabia with his family, had come to Karachi to spend summer vacation. His daughter Arisha was standing in the gallery watching what was going on in the alley when a bullet fired in the air by an enraged man hit her in the forehead, killing her instantly, shared Sharafi Goth police station SHO Farasat Shah.

Last year, when Ghayas had come to meet his relatives in Pakistan, his young son was run over by a man driving his vehicle recklessly at high speed, he said.

The SHO said that the suspect Mohammad Zubair Khan had told a boy to bring him some milk from the dairy shop, but the boy refused him.

Infuriated over being 'refused' by a little boy, Zubair quarreled with child's elder brothers to teach him some manners. They too scoffed him saying who he was to shoot orders. Enraged over the insult, Zubair pulled out his pistol and fired a shot in the air.

The bullet hit Arisha in the forehead, killing her instantly. She was standing in the gallery of the house of her relatives where she had come with her family to spend vacations, the SHO said narrating initial investigations.

Police seized a 30 bore pistols, two magazines and seven bullets from Zubair.
