Weather in the twin cities and surrounding regions turned pleasant on Monday following heavy downpours.
However, the strong winds and rainfall led to power outages in many areas, leaving citizens struggling without electricity late into the night.
According to the Meteorological Department, the rain and strong winds resulted in a drop in temperatures, creating a refreshing atmosphere in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Murree, and Gilyat areas.
The weather forecast for the next 24 hours predicts a possibility of thunderstorms and rain in various parts of upper Punjab, including Rawalpindi.
As a consequence of the rainfall, several areas in Rawalpindi witnessed traffic snarl-ups due to the accumulation of rainwater. Murree Road, Mall Road, Bank Road, Kashmir Road, Rawal Road, Airport Road, and Jhelum Road were particularly affected, causing inconvenience for commuters.
Furthermore, the strong winds caused prolonged power outages in several areas. Residents in Gawalmandi, Marir Hasan, Sehgal Street, Jhanda Chichi, Panch Sarki, Rahimabad, and Gharibabad experienced severe disruptions in their electricity supply.
