KARACHI:

The new western chain has made its way into Balochistan, heralding the arrival of heavy rain accompanied by thunder and gale in the rural districts of Sindh.

Additionally, hailstorms are anticipated in certain areas of the province.

Meanwhile, the weather in the city is expected to remain hot and humid over the next three days.

On Sunday morning, the region experienced hot and humid conditions due to the absence of sea breezes. The increased air humidity, reaching 67 per-cent, resulted in a heat index of 4 to 5 degrees higher than the actual temperature.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the mercury soared to 35.6 degrees Celsius on Sunday, with the Shaheed Benazirabad district of rural Sindh recording the highest temperature at 45.5 degrees.

The Early Warning Centre (EWC) of the PMD has forecasted that the westerly winds, after entering Balochistan, will gradually spread to Central and Upper Sindh.

As a result, heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms are expected in districts including Jamshoro, Sanghar, Khairpur, Sukkur, Kashmore, Jacobabad, Larkana, Qamber Shahdadkot, Shaheed Benazirabad, Nowshero Feroze, Matiari, Hyderabad, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allah yar, Mirpurkhas, Umarkot, and Tharparkar until May 31.

Moreover, hailstorms are also expected in the rural Sindh districts. The strong winds associated with the new western chain may cause damage to property and standing crops in upper Sindh.

Given the presence of strong winds, people are advised to seek shelter in safe places, EWC warns.

Meanwhile, the weather in Karachi is expected to remain hot and humid for the next three days, with maximum temperatures ranging between 34 and 36 degrees Celsius.

Furthermore, Balochistan’s westerly winds are likely to blow from morning until afternoon, while the sea breeze is expected in the afternoon. High humidity levels are anticipated, ranging between 75 and 85 per-cent.
